Blessed are the children

Blessed are the children whose mother greets them with a happy face

Blessed are the children whose mother celebrates them

Blessed are the children whose mother showers them with unconditional love, support, and care

Blessed are the children whose mother feels their pain and shares their joy

Blessed are the children whose mother is their encouragement and motivation

Blessed are the children whose mother is happy to praise them, in private and public

Blessed are the children whose successes are celebrated, not quietly resented

Blessed are the children whose mother is not looking at them like they are the competition

Blessed are the children whose mother is not the first one to jump in to publicly criticize them, shame them, or laugh at them

Blessed are the children who are never made to feel like nothing they ever do is enough to make their mother happy

Blessed are the children who don't have to walk on eggshells around their mother

Blessed are the children who don't have to deal with silent treatments or angry looks, just for being around

Blessed are the children who were never told they were selfish for having needs of their own

Blessed are the children who don't have to earn their mother's love with silence and obedience

Blessed are the children who don't have to shower their mother with gifts and material things, just to be seen and accepted

Blessed are the children who have not been carrying the burden of being their mother's validation from a young age

Blessed are the children who have not been their mother's therapist and mood manager

Blessed are the children who don't have to parent the parent

Blessed are the children who have not learned to shrink themselves to keep the peace or make their mother comfortable

Blessed are the children who are tired of finding the silver lining in being unseen

Blessed are the children who are sick of making excuses for a mother who refused to make room for them

Blessed are the children who are angry not because they lack love, but because they know exactly what love should have looked like and never got it from a mother

Blessed are the children who grew up knowing love doesn't come with conditions attached

Blessed are the children who were allowed to leave home without guilt trailing behind them

Blessed are the children who are still finding their way back to themselves

And blessed, too, are those still learning that the ache they carry has a name, that it was never their fault, and that healing, however slow, is still happening.
